We are Debbie and Larry Labrot, the husband-and-wife photographers behind Lily Rose Photography. We have photographed more than 750 weddings and have worked throughout Sonoma for years, from weddings in the City of Sonoma and Sonoma Valley to celebrations in Healdsburg and along the Sonoma Coast. Our Sonoma office is at 1055 Broadway, Suite E1, Sonoma, CA 95476, which gives couples a local place to meet with us and gives us a practical home base for weddings throughout the valley.

Local Sonoma Wedding Photography Experience

Debbie and Larry have spent years photographing weddings in Sonoma. That history matters because Sonoma wedding days often move through very different kinds of light and space: a hotel room in town, a vineyard ceremony in open sun, family photographs under mature trees, dinner inside a barrel room, then dancing after dark. Familiarity lets us anticipate those shifts instead of discovering them while the wedding is happening.

Our Sonoma office is part of that history. Couples can meet us in Sonoma, and we routinely work south toward Carneros, north through Glen Ellen and Kenwood, and farther across Sonoma County. We know when a location is actually close and when a map makes two places look closer than they feel on a wedding timeline.

Across 750+ weddings, our role has become simple: help people stay on schedule without making the day feel scheduled, give clear direction when it helps, and photograph the moments that do not need direction at all.

Sonoma Valley vs. Sonoma County

The names are often used as if they mean the same thing, but they do not. Sonoma Valley is the eastern wine-country corridor centered on the City of Sonoma and includes communities such as Glen Ellen and Kenwood. Sonoma County is much larger. It also includes Healdsburg, the Russian River area, Sebastopol, Petaluma, the Sonoma Coast, and many other towns and wine regions.

For a wedding page, that distinction matters. Viansa, Cline, Cornerstone, Seven Branches, Sonoma Golf Club, B.R. Cohn, Beltane Ranch, and Kunde fit naturally into a Sonoma Valley conversation. Montage Healdsburg and Timber Cove Resort are in Sonoma County, but they are not in Sonoma Valley. We photograph all of them, and we label them accurately so couples understand the geography when planning lodging, transportation, rehearsal dinners, and photography time.

Weddings in the City of Sonoma

The City of Sonoma gives couples several very different wedding looks without leaving town. You can have historic architecture and shaded streets around Sonoma Plaza, vineyard views along Arnold Drive and the Carneros edge of town, garden settings, resorts, inns, and winery properties within a short drive of one another.

Sonoma Plaza works well for wedding-weekend portraits, first looks, engagement sessions, and smaller portrait groups when the timing and access make sense. The historic buildings, mature trees, arcades, storefronts, and open square give photographs a sense of Sonoma that is very different from vineyard imagery. If you plan an organized ceremony or event on City property, the City of Sonoma requires a special-event permit. For photography-only use, we check current access rules before the date.

Scribe Winery is another Sonoma location with a strong visual identity. Its Hacienda, farm setting, and vineyard landscape are immediately recognizable. Scribe currently presents visits as member-focused, so we treat photography there as arranged access rather than describing it as a generally bookable wedding venue.

Viansa Sonoma — Hilltop views, broad horizons, Tuscan-influenced architecture, terraces, and strong sunset possibilities. Official venue information

Cline Family Cellars — Large lawns, ponds, mature trees, and the Adobe Mission give the property several different visual stories in one venue. Official wedding information

Cornerstone Sonoma — Gardens, open lawns, architectural elements, and a sailcloth tent create a wedding gallery that can move from graphic and modern to soft and garden-driven. Official wedding information

Seven Branches Venue & Inn — Close to Sonoma Plaza with a courtyard, patio, ballroom, and guest rooms, making it useful for weddings that want a more compact in-town flow. Official wedding information

Glen Ellen and Kenwood Weddings

Drive north from Sonoma and the valley changes. Glen Ellen feels smaller and more wooded. Kenwood opens into vineyard estates and mountain views. Both are part of Sonoma Valley, and both have venues where the photography benefits from knowing how quickly the sun can move behind hills, trees, and vineyard slopes.

Kunde Family Winery, Kenwood — A large estate with vineyard views, oak trees, caves, and several event spaces. We have photographed complete weddings here and know how different the property can look from ceremony time through sunset. Official wedding information

B.R. Cohn Winery, Glen Ellen — Vineyards, the amphitheater, olive grove, and pavilion give couples several ways to build the day without leaving the property. Official wedding information

Beltane Ranch, Glen Ellen — A historic ranch and inn with gardens, vineyards, mature oaks, and a more intimate wine-country feel. Official wedding information

These towns also work well for wedding weekends. Guests can stay near the venue, and couples can use a different nearby setting for a welcome party or morning-after gathering without turning the weekend into a long series of drives.

Healdsburg and the Sonoma Coast

Healdsburg belongs on a Sonoma County wedding page, but not under Sonoma Valley. It sits farther north, near the Russian River, Dry Creek, and Alexander Valley wine regions. We photograph there regularly and have a complete wedding gallery from Montage Healdsburg. The light, landscape, and guest logistics are different from the City of Sonoma, so we plan it as its own destination rather than treating it as an extension of the Plaza area.

The Sonoma Coast is different again. Jenner, Timber Cove, Sea Ranch, and the Highway 1 corridor bring wind, fog, cliffs, ocean light, and rapidly changing conditions into the photography plan. Couples who choose the coast usually want the setting to be a major part of the story. Our Timber Cove wedding work shows that side of Sonoma County clearly.

Film + Digital Wedding Photography

We photograph Sonoma weddings with digital cameras and analog film. Digital handles the pace of a wedding day: movement, changing light, long ceremonies, dark receptions, and fast reactions. Film changes the rhythm. We use 35mm and medium-format film for portraits, details, getting-ready scenes, and other moments where the slower process adds something to the final gallery.

Sonoma is a strong place for hybrid coverage because the settings already have texture: vineyards, old stone, wood, gardens, oaks, stucco, fog, ocean, and warm late-day light. Film does not replace digital coverage. It becomes another part of the visual record.

Sonoma Wedding Photography Pricing

Wedding collections begin at $4,400. Our current starting collection includes up to seven hours of wedding-day coverage, two photographers, high-resolution digital images, and a private online gallery. Couples can add film, albums, additional coverage, rehearsal dinner or welcome-party photography, and other options based on the wedding.

Our most popular collection is currently $6,800, and many couples invest more once they add albums, longer coverage, film, or wedding-weekend events. We keep the starting price visible because couples planning a Sonoma wedding should be able to decide early whether the range makes sense for them.

Planning Photography for a Sonoma Wedding

Build the timeline around the actual venue

A ceremony at a shaded Glen Ellen ranch behaves differently from a hilltop Viansa ceremony or an open lawn at Cline. We look at where the sun will be, how far the getting-ready space is from the ceremony, how long family photographs will take, and whether guests need to move between separate parts of the property.

Treat travel time as wedding time

Sonoma looks compact on a map, but a wedding can involve a hotel near the Plaza, a winery outside town, and a dinner or welcome event in another village. Ten extra minutes of driving can become thirty once a wedding party, parking, loading, and guest movement are involved. We plan photography with those real transitions in mind.

Plan for heat, shade, and weather

Summer and early fall can bring strong afternoon sun and high temperatures. On hot days, we protect people first: use shade when it is available, keep family groups moving, and save open-vineyard portraits for a better part of the day when possible. Winter and spring can bring rain, cooler temperatures, and earlier sunsets, which makes indoor options more important.

Use sunset without losing your reception

Sonoma sunset portraits do not need to turn into a long photo session. When the location is already planned, a short window can produce a complete set of portraits and still get you back to dinner, speeches, and your guests.

Know the rules before the wedding

Wineries, resorts, public spaces, and private properties can have different rules for access, drones, portrait locations, event hours, and vendor arrival. We confirm what affects photography before the wedding rather than learning it during portraits. For example, organized events on Sonoma Plaza require a City permit, and winery access outside the booked wedding space may require separate approval.

Do you offer drone photography?

Yes, when the venue permits it, airspace and weather allow it, and the flight can be made safely by a Part 107 Certified team member.
