Viansa Sonoma vineyard is a wonderful location to photograph weddings. Just south of San Francisco, Viansa boast wonderful views of the Sonoma Valley as it sits upon a hill.
With a number of locations for the ceremony site each couple can customize their wedding to their own personal taste. The wine cellar has a dressing room adjacent to it, which allows photographers wonderful opportunities for pictures. A stairway leads up to a reception area and is usually surrounded by lit candles. Large wine barrels are on both sides of the entryway doors, which are both quite grand. Although there’s not much light in the barrel room with modern cameras this does not pose much of a problem for a skilled photographer.
The barrel room is large enough to host a small reception or an intimate dinner. The dressing room itself as small but is tastefully decorated with just enough furniture not to crowd. Each piece of furniture has been carefully selected to be helpful to a bride who is getting ready or her bridal party. The barrel room not only makes for a wonderful location to photograph a bride or groom individually but also could be use for a first look with the bride and groom. On occasion we’ve even use this as a room for the father to see his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress. The image above was taken, as the bride was getting ready in this dressing room just off the barrel room.
Photographed with the Canon Mark IV and an 85 mm 1.2 lens the photograph captures the bride putting on her earrings on her wedding day. Unaware that the photograph was being taken this is just one of many photojournalistic moments that are captured during a typical wedding day. Shown in black and white the image could’ve been printed in color, but black and white gives a traditional look to the moment that is timeless. It’s these moments as photographers we pride ourselves in capturing.
